Margin Privacy Policy

Effective July 23, 2026.

This policy covers Margin, an iPhone app published by Stricklin Development, LLC. It does not cover the rest of this website.

What Margin collects

When you connect a financial institution, Margin receives, for each account you authorize:

  • Account details — institution name, account name, account type, the last few digits of the account number, current and available balance, and credit limit where one applies
  • Transactions — date, amount, description, merchant, and category

That is the entire list. Margin does not collect your name, address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, device identifiers, or advertising identifiers. It has no user accounts and asks for no personal details of any kind.

How it is collected

Margin uses Plaid Inc. to connect to financial institutions. You authenticate directly with your bank inside Plaid’s connection flow. Your bank credentials are never shown to, handled by, or stored by Margin. Plaid’s handling of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.

Connections are read-only. Margin cannot move money, initiate payments, or make any change to your accounts.

Where it is stored

Account and transaction data is stored locally on your iPhone. It is not uploaded to a server and there is no cloud copy.

A small private backend, hosted on Cloudflare Workers, holds the credentials needed to communicate with Plaid so they are not embedded in the app. For each institution you link, it stores an access token and a sync marker. It stores no balances, no transactions, and no personal information.

What is never done with your data

  • It is never sold, rented, or licensed to anyone
  • It is never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or marketers
  • It is never used to build a profile of you or to target advertising
  • The app contains no advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking of any kind

The only third parties involved are Plaid, which provides the bank connection, and Cloudflare, which hosts the backend described above.

Keeping and deleting your data

Data is kept only while you keep an institution connected. You are in control of removing it:

  • Disconnect a bank — Settings → Bank Sync → Linked Banks. This deletes that institution’s accounts and transactions from your iPhone and deletes its access token from the backend, ending Plaid’s access.
  • Delete the app — removing Margin from your iPhone erases all locally stored financial data.
  • Ask directly — email the address below to request deletion of anything held on the backend.

Security

All communication between the app, the backend, and Plaid runs over encrypted HTTPS connections. Plaid credentials are held on the backend rather than inside the app, and requests to the backend require an authorization token. Balances can be hidden behind Face ID from within the app.

Children

Margin is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
