Margin is a personal finance app for iPhone. It brings your accounts together on one screen: balances, net worth, credit-card usage, and recent transactions. Margin is built and maintained by Stricklin Development, LLC.
What Margin does
- Shows every connected account — checking, savings, and credit cards — with current balances
- Calculates net worth across all accounts
- Shows credit-card usage against each card’s limit
- Lists recent transactions for any account you tap
- Lets you hide balances behind Face ID when you don’t want them on screen
How bank connections work
Margin connects to financial institutions through Plaid. Those connections are read-only. Margin can see account balances and transaction history; it cannot move money, make payments, open or close accounts, or change anything at your bank.
You choose which institutions to connect, and you can disconnect any of them at any time from Settings → Bank Sync → Linked Banks. Disconnecting removes that bank’s accounts and transactions from the app and revokes the connection.
Margin never sees or stores your bank username or password. Those go directly to your bank through Plaid’s connection flow.
Where your data lives
Your account and transaction data is stored on your iPhone. Margin has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no server-side copy of your transactions. Your financial data is never sold, rented, or shared. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.
There is one small server component: a private backend that holds the credentials required to talk to Plaid, so they are never embedded in the app itself. For each bank you link, it stores a connection token and a sync marker — nothing else. Deleting the connection deletes the token.
Status
Margin is in active development and is not yet available on the App Store. I am running it against my own accounts first, and I will not release it publicly until I am satisfied that it works correctly on my own finances.
